Rolex added the GMT Master II to their catalog in the 1980's. With this addition came a redesigned movement that allowed for an independently moving GMT hand. Newer models featured a slightly thicker case to accommodate for the new movement. The reference 16710. however. debuted in 1989 and brought with it a refined. thinner case. This update offers a sleeker fit on the wrist that many collectors prefer. The case also features a striking "Coke" bezel. which utilizes black and red to distinguish between day and night hours on the bezel.
