When it debuted in the 1950's. the President Day-Date featured a traditional 36mm Oyster case. Then. in 2008. Rolex released a larger 41mm variation of their iconic luxury watch. only to discontinue it and release the 40mm Day-Date ref. 228238 in 2015. The 40mm Day-Date seems to get the case measurement just right. offering the bold style that modern collectors crave without appearing too ostentatious or in-your-face. While gold Rolex timepieces are anything but subtle. this ref. 228238 seems to exude power and luxurious style in a classy way. As a newer secondhand Rolex. the Day-Date boasts Chromalight baton hour markers on the dial. a sharply fluted bezel. a waterproof Twinlock screw-down crown. a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal over the dial. and a next-generation calibre 3255 movement. complete with a Paramagnetic blue Parachrom hairspring and Paraflex shock absorbers.
