This 1016 is in overall great. honest condition. It is a fresh to market watch complete with box. papers. receipt. and accessories. The outer box box even has the little "1016" sticker on the side indicating it was the correct box for the reference. we love these little details. It comes with its sales receipt receipt from the "United States Naval Supply Depot Yokosuka. Japan" and it says the purchasing department was in Hong Kong. When looking at the small print on the receipt. it says the currency is Hong Kong Dollars and the price was 646 HKD. By using a currency converter online that takes age into consideration. this is about $110 US dollars. The receipt has the corresponding serial number on it which links it to this specific watch. We always love coming across watches with its full kit and this one having the receipt that gives it military provenance makes it that much more interesting. Vintage Watch Condition Examination
This Rolex watch is in overall great. honest vintage condition. The case is in great condition with some scratches and wear throughout. it appears to be unpolished. The case also has some nicks on the sides and edges. The bezel is in great condition with scratches and some nicks. The dial is in excellent condition throughout with light patina. The lume on the dial has developed developed patina and aged to an attractive yellow color. Some of the lume plots show a bit of degradation. The hands have developed patina. The lume in the hands has been redone/ color corrected and match the color of the lume on the dial. The rivet Oyster bracelet is in good. honest condition with scratches. wear and stretch between the links. The green plastic wallet that comes with the watch has been folded inside out and we cant fold it the correct way. it must have been like this for decades. The crystal has been replaced. but the watch will come with the one that was on it. The top of the presentation box is coming apart inside.Vintage Rolex Explorer 1016

At the beginning of the run Rolex made the dials glossy and then switched to the matte style around 1966. This example is circa 1967 and features a matte Mark 1 "frog foot" dial.
